Meet the 2021-22 PTSA Board

Join us in welcoming our new PTSA Board members for the 2021-2022 school year!

President: Cynthia Kemp

I’m excited to take on the president role at Robert Eagle Staff. I have been the volunteer coordinator for the past year and a half. My son is a graduating 8th grader and my daughter is in 6th grade. I taught Social Studies at Ballard High School for almost 20 years, leaving the classroom in June 2019.

Co-president (VP): Christi Steinberg

Co-secretary: Brooke Van Eyk

Brooke Van Eyk is originally from Atlanta and lived in Boston for a few years before moving to Seattle over a decade ago.  She is currently a full-time grad student pursuing a Master’s of Library & Information Science.  Brooke lives in Greenwood and is mom to Daphne (incoming RESMS 6th grader) and Thad (rising 3rd grader).  The Van Eyk’s also have has a small dog with a big bark and a one-eyed pirate cat.

Co-secretary: Anne Heskel

Annie is originally from Florida and lived in Boston, Philadelphia, and NYC before moving to Seattle in 2017.  She is a small animal veterinarian at Maple Leaf Veterinary Care Center.  Anne and her husband, Gordon, are parents to Charlotte (6th grade) and Caroline (3rd grade) as well as two socially inept cats and one adorable beagle-mix.

Co-treasurer: Ruchita Tulsyan

Ruchita has two wonderful children: a rising 8th grader at Eagle Staff and a rising 5th grader at John Stanford International. Professionally, Ruchita works part-time as an HR Manager and spends her afternoon teaching mechanical engineering concepts using Legos to students in various elementary schools in Seattle in a fun and entertaining environment through Seattle Young Engineers. She was born and raised in India and cherishes Indian traditions, festivals and food.

Co-treasurer: Catherine Muth

Membership Chair: Maggie Skinner

Maggie is the Executive Director of Goodwin Connections, a nonprofit that makes childcare and preschool more affordable for parents which allows them to work full-time towards their first college degree. Her background is in marketing, communications, and fundraising for nonprofits related to education, health, and the arts. She lives in the Broadview neighborhood with her family. In fall 2021, her daughter, Greta, will attend Robert Eagle Staff as a 6th grader, and her son, Theo, will enter 3rd grade at Daniel Bagley.

Communications Chair: Michelle Peters

I’m happy to be more involved with the Eagle Staff PTSA next year as the Communications Chair. We have three kids, two at Eagle Staff (Jack, 8th, and Henry, 6th) and one at Greenwood Elementary (Katie, 4th). I have long served on the Greenwood Elementary board, leading various committees, working as the communications chair and newsletter editor for all of my years there, and, finally, president the last two years. This past year, I served on the Eagle Staff PTSA board as co-chair of the Community Engagement team. In my “spare” time, I own a freelance editorial business, through which I provide copywriting services for travel companies all over the world. I’m an avid reader, hiker, biker and runner who originally hails from Vermont, but adores my adopted PNW.

Volunteer Coordinator: Julie Kennedy

Community Engagement: Donna Hale-Wolcott
