Girls at the Helm — Spring Break Experience

Want­ed to share a real­ly cool expe­ri­ence open to 7–12th grade female iden­ti­fy­ing stu­dents who may be inter­est­ed in Sail­ing. Girls at the Helm — Spring Break Expe­ri­ence is 4 day sail­ing expe­ri­ence where they will learn about the ropes of sail­ing, nav­i­ga­tion and marine sci­ence.

Aboard Adven­turess, STEM sci­ence, the Sal­ish Sea, and mar­itime his­to­ry come alive! Female-iden­ti­fy­ing par­tic­i­pants in grades 7–12 are active­ly involved in every aspect of sail­ing the ship, from haul­ing lines to learn­ing about nav­i­ga­tion and marine sci­ence. Through these activ­i­ties, they’ll learn the sig­nif­i­cance of team­work, how to take respon­si­bil­i­ty for their own actions, and the pride of accom­plish­ment. Sail­ing and learn­ing togeth­er as the ships com­pa­ny, the girls will devel­op con­fi­dence as lead­ers, sailors and advo­cates for the future of the Sal­ish Sea.
Girls at the Hem also brings togeth­er teens with men­tors. These women are experts in their field who want to share their skills and expe­ri­ence while con­nect­ing with the next gen­er­a­tion of women lead­ers. There will be 3 men­tors aboard for the overnight por­tion and up to 20 men­tors dur­ing the Men­tor Day Sail.
When: April 13–16, 4‑day Overnight and April 17, Men­tor Day Sail (10am-3pm)
Where: Shils­hole Bay Mari­na, Seat­tle
Cost: Mem­bers $495, Non-mem­bers $525 (Schol­ar­ships avail­able!)
