This well loved class could use a lit­tle help!
Prob­lem Solv­ing class needs vol­un­teers:
Have a career in an indus­try relat­ed to or have a pas­sion for sewing, cook­ing, con­struc­tion, or finance? We’d love to have you in to tell us about it!
Want to vol­un­teer to help stu­dents nav­i­gate basic sewing, cook­ing, and car­pen­try skills? We’d love to have your sup­port!
Spe­cif­ic Dates and Times: 2nd & 5th peri­od
Wood­work­ing: 10/8–10/22 – Help stu­dents fol­low a plan, mea­sure, saw with hand­saws, con­struct with nails and ham­mer to build a planter box, bird house, or bird feed­er.
Cook­ing: Nov 3–7 Help stu­dents make bread rolls from scratch and super­vise a sec­ond oven.

World Cultures and Art Class at RESMS

New school year new class­es! I am excit­ed to be teach­ing a class about world cul­tures

and art. In this class we will be learn­ing a bit about the geog­ra­phy of Latin Amer­i­ca,

Indige­nous Native Amer­i­cans, East Africa and Asia. Then learn­ing about tra­di­tion­al

crafts and con­tem­po­rary artists that tie social jus­tice with their region of ori­gin. We will

be cre­at­ing quite a bit of Art! Bud­gets are small and there is so much art to explore.

Look­ing for dona­tions of the fol­low­ing:

  • Yarn (not real­ly fuzzy) any col­ors work
  • Embroi­dery floss
  • DVD play­er
  • Toast­er oven (will not be used for food)
  • Old records (not your faves)
  • Mag­a­zines
  • Beads
  • White sheets
  • Any recy­cled mate­ri­als ex: keys soda pop lids or met­al rings, stick­ers, pack­ing mate­ri­als

You can send mate­ri­als with your stu­dent and leave in the office for Lin­den. If you are an artist and would be inter­est­ed in com­ing in as a guest, e mail me as well. If you have a col­lec­tion of any­thing else you would like to donate, e‑mail me ddlinden@seattle

Updated Fall Sports Tryouts Dates This Week & Next

Girls soc­cer and coed ulti­mate fris­bee will be start­ing up the week of Sept. 8. We’ll have Var­si­ty, Junior Var­si­ty and JVC girls soc­cer teams and four or five coed ulti­mate teams this year with the sea­son run­ning through mid-Novem­ber. We encour­age all inter­est­ed stu­dents to try out regard­less of expe­ri­ence or skill lev­el. If your stu­dent iden­ti­fies as non-bina­ry and is inter­est­ed in play­ing, we wel­come them as well. Please check in with ath­let­ic coor­di­na­tors Louis Eaglestaff or James Fly­nn as need­ed for sup­port in choos­ing a team or sea­son.

Before stu­dents par­tic­i­pate in school ath­let­ics, par­ents and stu­dents must fill out and vir­tu­al­ly sign their online Final­Forms. Stu­dents must also sub­mit a cur­rent pre-par­tic­i­pa­tion phys­i­cal form (good for two years). Phys­i­cals can be sched­uled before, dur­ing or after school at the Neigh­bor­care health clin­ic at Eagle Staff. Once the phys­i­cal form is com­plet­ed, it will need to uploaded to your student’s Final­Forms account.

Coed Ulti­mate
Try­outs for ulti­mate fris­bee will be held after school on Tues­day, Sept. 9, Fri­day, Sept. 12 and Tues­day Sept. 16. Teams will prac­tice Tues­days and Fri­days with games on Sat­ur­days start­ing in late Sep­tem­ber.

Try­outs for girls soc­cer will be held after school on Thurs­day, Sept. 11, and Mon­day, Sept 15. Teams will prac­tice Mon­days and Thurs­days with games on Sat­ur­days start­ing in late Sep­tem­ber for var­si­ty and ear­ly Octo­ber for JV and JVC.

Call­ing all coach­es
We are look­ing for addi­tion­al coach­es for both girls JVC soc­cer and our 6th grade ulti­mate teams. If you have inter­est in teach­ing soc­cer or ulti­mate fun­da­men­tals, moti­vat­ing stu­dent ath­letes and help­ing main­tain a pos­i­tive and fun prac­tice and game atmos­phere please reach out to ath­let­ic coor­di­na­tors Louis Eaglestaff and James Fly­nn.

Won­der­ing what the Friends of Robert Eagle Staff PTSA does that impacts your child? These are just some of the cur­rent items in our bud­get that our fundrais­ing goes towards:

  • Staff requests & class­room enrich­ment $12,500
  • Field trips & Raven’s Expe­ri­ences $14,000
  • Raven’s Clos­et  $6,000
  • Sports team equip­ment & coach­ing $6,500
  • Library $4,000
  • After-school events (like: grade-based events, lan­guage night, math night, Proyec­to Saber) $3,350
  • Staff Appre­ci­a­tion $3,000
  • 8th Grade Pro­mo­tion Cel­e­bra­tion $2,500
  • Prin­ci­pal’s dis­cre­tionary fund $2,000
  • After school pro­grams, includ­ing sup­plies and scholarships/support $2,000
  • Ravens t‑shirts for all incom­ing stu­dents $2,000
  • Art sup­plies, ASB, Coun­sel­ing Out­reach, Mak­er Space, Nurse, Office sup­plies, PE Equip­ment, WEB leader training/programming & more, totalling over $11,850
  • Work­ing cap­i­tal for PTSA musi­cal the­ater (this year it’s Shrek The Musi­cal, Jr.)

To ful­ly fund our ongo­ing com­mit­ment to the school com­mu­ni­ty, we rec­om­mend fam­i­lies donate $220 per stu­dent. Friends of Robert Eagle Staff PTSA is hap­py to accept what­ev­er dona­tion is afford­able to you, how­ev­er small or large. Please con­sid­er increas­ing your dona­tion on behalf of fam­i­lies who are unable to donate if you are in a posi­tion to do so.

  • 9:00 – 12:00 (265) 6th graders led by (80) 8th graders run­ning WEB Ori­en­ta­tion (Web is Where every­one belongs, it’s our ori­en­ta­tion where 8th graders help the 6th grade ori­en­ta­tion)
  • 12:00 AE open house (AE: Acces­si­ble Edu­ca­tion our term for spe­cial edu­ca­tion)
  • 3:00 New 7th / 8th Grad­er Ori­en­ta­tion
Prin­ci­pal Stow­ell will also send this out to all once the ros­ter updates for the year.
