The Safe Crossings Program, part of Providence at Home with Compassus, is looking forward to connecting with caregivers from Robert Eaglestaff Middle School to discuss ways to support youth navigating grief. This important training, led by facilitator Makenzie Muilenburg, LMHC, will offer valuable insights and guidance for caregivers. Participants will gain knowledge on effectively communicating with youth about death, understanding developmental grief responses, and identifying and understanding trauma symptoms that may require specialized support.
Topics covered will include secondary losses, strategies to empower youth with choice and agency as they process their loss, and exploration of the differences and similarities between adult and childhood grief. Attendees will have opportunities for questions to deepen their understanding.
As a leading provider of pediatric grief support services in King County, the Safe Crossings Program is dedicated to equipping caregivers with the tools they need to best support bereaved youth.
